Certificates of Specialization

 

U.S. Journal Training offers a variety of Certificates of Specialization which are designed to enhance knowledge in specific subject areas for mental health professionals, behavioral health professionals, substance abuse and addiction professionals. Wether you are just starting out or a veteran in the field, our Certificate of Specialization will enhance your knowledge.

Each Certificate of Specialization consist of courses that are grouped together into specific specialty areas. Each course is presented by top experts in the field who specialize in the particular topic of discussion. Successful completion of a certificate of specialization allows professionals to provide advanced clinical treatment to their clients. Completing these certificates will also:

  • Enhance professional credibility
  • Expand knowledge
  • Increase expertise

Description of the Program: You may choose from a pre-selected menu of online conferences. In addition,

  • Each participant is required to complete a total of 30 CEs, which is roughly equivalent to 20 lectures from the selection. These lectures must be part of the certificate program.
  • If you take courses as Individual CEs that are contained within a Certificate, you'll automatically receive credit towards that Certificate.
  • Most lectures are valued at 1.5 CEs.
  • A Certificate of Specialization is valued at 30 CEs.
  • Following successful completion of a certificate, the participant is considered a specialist in that particular field.

Certificates of Specialization Include:

Adolescent and Family Therapy: Provides practical knowledge of techniques and skills that are useful when building a foundation of trust and communication with adolescents. The certificate provides expertise in:

  • Various ways to interact with defiant teens.
  • Treatment strategies for addressing specialized issues such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, child abuse, violence, anger, loss, compulsive worrying, and prevention of teen suicide.
  • Trans-generational risk factors associated with adolescent depression.
  • Empowerment and conflict resolution skills.
  • Boundary setting and spirituality exploration.
  • Additionally, lectures on sexuality and intimacy within an adult relationship are offered.

Anger and Trauma: Introduces a variety of clinical approaches that can be utilized in counseling individuals with anger and trauma issues. The certificate provides expertise in:

  • Clinical approaches that include cognitive-behavioral, theater, motivational interviewing, psychodrama, conflict management, grief work and more.
  • Learning multiple perspectives on anger, rage and trauma.
  • Exploring family and community based interventions and medication management.
  • Strategies for helping youth, family, schools and businesses manage the critical problems of bullying, violence and loss.

Specialized Counseling Skills: Designed to introduce the applications of various specialized counseling techniques, tools and skills. Provides expertise in:

  • Borderline Personality Disorder with emphasis on the perpetrator/victim perspective.
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy, affect regulation and repair of the self.
  • Techniques for building healthy self-esteem and developing adult resiliency skills.
  • Lectures on skills and issues related to managing uncivil behavior, anger, rage and conflict resolution.
  • Gender issues in treatment and recovery.

Adolescent Addiction: Provides information and clinical approaches for treating adolescent addiction. This certificate specializes in:

  • Providing tools that motivate substance abusing adolescents and assists with recovery.
  • Valuable coping skills such as anger management, boosting self-esteem, self-reliance and meditation.
  • Strategies for providing healthy treatment environments to guide adolescents through the treatment process.
  • Analyzing grief support interventions for teens and understanding effective strategies.
  • Effective ways to help clients/patients avoid relapse.

Women's Issues: Provides a comprehensive approach to working with issues specifically related to women. This certificate specializes in:

  • Creative approaches to treating trauma, loss and death.
  • The physiological aspects of the loss of hormones and the affect of HRT during menopause.
  • Finding out how addiction affects women differently
  • Powerful tools to help female clients address low or disparate sexual desire.
  • Acquainting clinicians with spiritual stories creating a context for female clients to identify their own qualities, strategies and strength.
  • Exploring a new paradigm for treating violent/abusive couples that takes therapists out of the rescuing business by considering the role of the limbic brain and changing neural templates.

Relationships, Shame & Spirituality: This certificate provides students with a more in depth understanding of issues relating to shame, relationships, and methods of incorporating spirituality into clinical practice. Specializes in:

  • Managing fear, hurt, shame, loneliness as well as learning what to examine when a couple asks for help in their floundering relationships.
  • Exploring psychodynamics, cognitive-behavioral and systemic approaches to trauma in relation to fear of intimacy.
  • Learn to distinguish between healthy shame and toxic shame
  • Review current evidence-based intervention and treatment of adult children of alcoholics and other trauma
  • Understand the role of spirituality in recovery
  • Exploring the spirit of relationships and the nature of intimacy in order to support the well being of others in their relationships.

Addiction Counseling Skills: Places emphasis on understanding and treating clients/patients with addiction related issues. This certificate specializes in:

  • Discovering the relationship between substance abuse, sex addiction, gambling, and other addictions.
  • Learning facts, statistics and approaches to treat chemically dependent offenders.
  • Discovering a treatment model integrating substance abuse recovery with psychotherapeutic interventions for clients who are drug/alcohol addicted trauma survivors.
  • Exploring the integration of energy psychology approaches in the treatment of eating disordered women.

Certificates of Specialization can be purchased two ways.

1) Select the required courses and purchase them all in advance. This can be done through our volume discount program which allows you to receive a discount based on the number of CE credit hours purchased in advance.

2) Select courses within the certificate and purchase them individually. You may purchase one course or many courses at any given time. Courses within certificates are automatically stored in your user profile. This provides you with the convenience and flexibility of obtaining certificates at your own pace.*

*Please note that individual distance learning continuing education courses must be completed within 4 months of purchase.

Requirements for obtaining a Certificate of Completion:

  • You must pass all 30 CEs with a score of 75% or higher on each exam.
  • The first time a lecture is accessed, the accompanying fee of that lecture will be deducted from your account balance if you have purchased quantities of CEs under the volume discount plan.
  • Most lectures are valued at 1.5 CE Credits.
  • If you score lower than 75% on any exam, you must re-purchase the lecture or deduct the lecture from your account.
  • Successful completion of 30 CE Credits is required for each certificate.
  • Upon the successful completion of the requirement for the Certificate of Specialization, the certificate will be mailed to you within 2 weeks.
