Advances in understanding the neurobiology of addiction has resulted in an explosive growth of medication developments to treat addictions. Despite such advances, Twelve-Step and other peer-oriented community treatment models continue to enjoy the best outcomes in addiction treatment. This presentation will explore the developing science of addiction treatment including interventions for environmental “cues” or “triggers” that often result in relapse.
