Triggered activations can result in dramatically inaccurate thoughts, feelings, perceptions and associated behaviors, that appear to emerge “out of the blue” as rage, impulsivity, self-hatred, abandonment issues, or dissociated behavior. The central role of the therapeutic relationship in activating and resolving these activations is explored.
