Stephanie  Brown , PhD

Stephanie Brown, PhD, director of the Addictions Institute in Menlo Park, CA, is a clinician, researcher, theoretician, author, lecturer, and consultant in the field of addiction. She founded the Stanford Alcohol Clinic in 1977 and codirected The Family Recovery Research Project at the Mental Research Institute (MRI) in the 1990s. The author of eleven books, including A Place Called Self: Women, Sobriety, and Radical Transformation and The Alcoholic Family in Recovery: A Developmental Model, her newest book is Speed: Facing Our Addiction to Fast and Faster and Overcoming Our Fear of Slowing Down.
