A Practical Model for Utilizing Feelings and Flashbacks to Heal Trauma

PTSD and its related trauma are not simple issues to treat in adolescents and young adults. Breaking a traumatic experience down into its six component stages helps us identify which aspects require our specific focus to complete healing. The six corresponding different kinds of flashbacks give us the clues. The clinician’s role includes teaching feelings and flashback skills, managing safety issues and dissociation, fully completing the flashback process, and being aware of vicarious trauma.
